Free Trial Mode is the Software's default mode of operation and applies when no license key has been registered with it.

An Unregistered Evaluator ("Evaluator") is anyone using the Software in Free Trial Mode.

Registered Mode is the mode in which the Software operates when a license key has been registered with it.

The Registered User ("User") is the particular person for whose use of the Software a license key has been purchased.

The Software itself may be downloaded freely and anonymously from the Web Site—but may only be used under the terms of this license. The same executable is used for both Free Trial Mode and for Registered Mode.

When the Software operates in Free Trial Mode, all its facilities are available except that overall there is a limit of about 600 entries in any one index, and some features may become unavailable as the index grows. Any Unregistered Evaluator may use the Software in Free Trial Mode on any number of computers, without time limit, for the purpose of evaluation, or for educational purposes, free of charge.

When the Software operates in Registered Mode, there are no limits on its features or number of entries (beyond any physical limits the computer it is running on imposes). To operate in Registered Mode a license key must be purchased and registered with the Software. Each license key must be bought for a particular User (by themselves or by an agent on their behalf) from the Web Site or directly from Qtrac. A license key is valid for a particular major version of the Software including all minor and patch versions. Each license key may be registered on at most two computers at any one time, providing that the Software will only be used with the registered license key on either of these computers only by the User and by no one else. If either or both of these computers is given away, sold, or otherwise disposed of, the Software must be uninstalled first (unless the machine is unrepairably broken or is restored to its factory default settings). The license key must be kept secret.

The Software may be copied for archival purposes, provided any copy contains all of the original Software's proprietary notices.

Each license purchased entitles the User to up to 90 days of reasonable best-efforts email support.
